James H. “Jim” Engels

James H. “Jim” Engels, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 1, 2021.  He was born July 6, 1937, to Joseph and Dorothy (Schlegmilch) Engels.  After graduating from Premontre High School in 1956, Jim served his county in the Marine Corps.  He married Elaine Vercauteren and the union was blessed with two daughters.  Jim regularly attended St. Willebrord Catholic Church and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. 

Jim started his career with Fort Howard Paper Company, and retired from James River Paper Company after 38 years of employment.  He liked to take walks, fish, shoot dartball in the Holy Name League, bowl with his coworkers and play cribbage.  Special times were spent taking trips to Fayette, Michigan.  Above anything, he loved spending time with his daughters, grandkids and great-grandson.

He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Pam Jansen (Roy Kussow) of Green Bay and Lori Busjahn (Mike Maass) of De Pere; four grandchildren, Jeremy Jansen (Cammie Cramer), Eric Jansen, Rachael Busjahn and Alyssa Busjahn; a great-grandson, Nash Splinler; his brother, Dave (Kathie) Engels; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Engels; father, Joseph Engels; and two step-mothers, Thelma (Louis) Engels and Vera (Gainor) Engels.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St.  The family asks that you wear a mask and practice social distancing.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the church with Father Andre Cribben O.Praem officiating.  Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.  Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family.
