Wayne G. Destree, 79, Green Bay, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021. He was born on June 19, 1941 in Sturgeon Bay to the late Alvin and Myrtle (DePrey) Destree. Wayne was a graduate of Preble High School in Green Bay. On June 23, 1962, he married Karen Cherveny, she preceded him in death on September 16, 2017. Wayne’s favorite activity was traveling the world. He visited such places as Russia, Iceland, China, Europe and Cuba. Wayne and Karen visited over 40 countries and every U.S. State and Canadian province. He was a dedicated business owner of Zoll Stone Center. Wayne started as a draftsman right out of high school. He worked his way up the organization and eventually became the owner. Wayne spent 50 plus years working at Zoll. He was instrumental in getting Highway 172 built, it was one of his proudest accomplishments. The highlight of his life was being a grandfather to eight grandkids and two great grandchildren. He enjoyed taking family trips with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his children, Kelly (Steve) Herlache, Kyle (Tori) Destree and Kristin (Tony) Uttech; grandchildren, Danielle (John) Davis, Brady Destree, Brice Destree, Kalissa Destree, Brevin Destree, Emmalee Uttech, Isabelle Uttech and Grayson Uttech; sister, Wanda (Ken) Wilczynski; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Destree, Jim Destree and Thomas Destree; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Ethel Cherveny.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family has asked for donations to be given to The Giving Tree at Green Bay Community Church.
