Carol Lynn Steinhoff, 81, Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021.  She was born in Kenosha on April 26, 1940, to the late William and Stephanie (Hodal) Montemurro.  Carol grew up in a close-knit Italian family of five children in Kenosha, WI. After graduating from Bradford High school in 1958, she pursued a career in cosmetology. She married and moved to Greendale to start a family. The family decided to move away from the busy city life to a small hobby farm in rural Random Lake to raise their two sons and daughter.

Carol had a love of animals and shared her life with dogs: Hud, Puffer, Tess, Thor, and Myles and her horses: Aries, Taurus, Tuffy, Isaac, and Maurice.  She embraced the holistic country lifestyle and found that she had a natural green thumb, with a house full of plants and a large annual garden. This is where Carol’s lifelong love of horses started that she shared with her daughter, Monique. Carol was actively involved with the horse community and rode dressage, competing in several events.

Carol lived in Grafton, WI. for a short time, then divorced and moved to Elkhart Lake, WI. where she owned and operated The Equine Source. This is where she found her new best friend, a jack russell named Myles; her constant companion for the next 16 years. In 2017 Carol moved to Green Bay to be closer to her son, Craig. Carol passed away peacefully on August 4th, surrounded by her children and loved ones.

Carol is survived by her three children, Michael (Janet) Steinhoff, their 2 children, Luke and Chase; Craig (Lori) Steinhoff, their daughter, Isabella and Monique (Aaron) Mull.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard and William Montemurro and her grandson, Elden Steinhoff.

Carol will be having a private family service where her ashes will be buried beneath a beautiful Blue Spruce tree, a celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers she would like people to donate to the EAS Foundation, a non-profit organization raising money for opiate & heroin addiction that honors the memory of her grandson, Elden A. Steinhoff. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.
