Vida A. Bruss, 82, Green Bay, formerly of Denmark, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in comfort and peace. She was born on September 30, 1940, in Augsburg, Illinois to the late Urban and Helen (Mathews) Ewald. She graduated from Centralia High School in Centralia, Illinois. Vida then attended and graduated from Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois. On July 27, 1963, she married Harold Bruss at Christ Lutheran Church in Denmark. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2000. Vida taught eighth grade social studies at Denmark Middle School for her entire teaching career. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially with the grandchildren. Vida enjoyed staying active outdoors by tending to her garden, caring for her lawn, going for bicycle rides, long walks and golfing. Faith was very important to Vida and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Green Bay. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Lisa (Jeff) Truttman, Lana (Eric) Bjorklund, Todd (Julie) Bruss, Tom (Lana) Bruss and Luanne (John) Murray; grandchildren, Kellen (Krystal) Truttman, Kendell (Craig) Kirchman, Jacob Bjorklund, Josie Bjorklund, Emily Bruss, Meghan Bruss, Matthew Bruss, Jenna Bruss, Hannah Murray and Jack Murray; great grandchildren, Carly Truttman and Brooks Kirchman; brothers, David (Ronda) Ewald, Gene (Char) Ewald, Mark (Carol) Ewald and Larry (Debbie) Ewald; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl (Mary Jane) Bruss, Pauline Bruss and Alice Ewald; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elwyn Ewald; and brother-in-law, Paul Bruss.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 330 S. Broadway, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral Service 12:00 noon Wednesday at the church with Pastor Rachel Knoke officiating. Burial will take place at the East Side Lutheran Cemetery in Denmark.
