Virginia M. “Ginny” Nelson

Virginia M. “Ginny” Nelson, 95, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 20, 2021.  She was born April 12, 1925, in Oshkosh to Clarence and Edith (Kitz) Clute.  She graduated from Oshkosh High School, Ginny then graduated from UW Oshkosh in 1946.  She began teaching at Chilton High School in 1946, and later, Janesville High School.  Ginny taught English at Green Bay West High School for the majority of her career, and she retired from teaching in 1986.  

Ginny married Arthur C. Keuler in Oshkosh on July 28, 1949.  He preceded her in death on April 21, 1974.  Ginny spent most of her free time in Lakewood at the family cottage that she and Arthur built where she relished watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy her special place. Ginny was the matriarch of the family, instilling values in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ginny married Robert L. “Bobby” Nelson on July 16, 1982.  He preceded her in death on May 30, 2008.  She was a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere.  Ginny loved going out to Sammy’s and Kroll’s with her family and friends.

Ginny is survived by her children, Thomas (Marti) Keuler, Paducah, KY, Steven (Tracy) Keuler, Salem, OR, Michael (Jill Reimer) Keuler, De Pere, WI, John (Lori) Keuler, Maui, HI, and James Keuler, New Berlin, WI;  her grandchildren, Andrew Keuler, Lexi Keuler, Jon (Ashley) Keuler, Nick (Kelsey) Keuler, Mariah (Trent) Peterson, Mike (Erica) Keuler, Tessa (fiancé Brian) Keuler, Chelsea (Dan) Malchow, Chad Keuler, Jaimie (Levi) Keuler, Bobby (Angie) Keuler, Dan (Lydia) Keuler, Jacob Keuler and Ava Keuler and 12 great-grandchildren.  Furthermore, she is survived by her six step-children, Paul (Lori) Nelson, De Pere, WI, Theresa Kitslaar, De Pere, WI, Catherine (Tom) Agostino, Colorado Springs, CO, Mary (Chip) Hilton, Colorado Springs, CO, Ann (Jeff) Norton, Red Wing, MN, Sarah(Chris) Anderson, Fort Worth, TX, her step-grandchildren; Kristy (Tony) Brink, Amy (Joe) Ecke, Mark Kitslaar, Emily (Jason) Willems, Casey (Colton) Hilton, Meredith (David Rindahl) Norton, Madeline Norton, Cory Nelson, Curtis (Winnie) Nelson, Emily (Andrew) Nelson, and 12 step great-grandchildren. 

Additionally, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Don Keuler, AK; her sister-in-law Suzanne Antonello, FL; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ginny was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, David Keuler, her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Keuler and a stepson Mark Nelson.

Friends may call St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St. De Pere, on Saturday, February 20th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Michael Ingold officiating.  The services will be livestreamed and can be viewed on the Proko-Wall Funeral Home Facebook page.  Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum following the church service.
