Weston Counard, 90, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. He was born June 20, 1932, in Green Bay to Jule and Viola (Herlache) Counard. After attending local school, Wes served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. On June 26, 1957, he married Ethel Puyleart at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Catholic Church. The two were married for 47 years before Ethel preceded him in death November 20, 2004. On September 8, 2006, Wes married Janice (Ellerman) Fung at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2021. He retired as a papermill inspector.
Wes enjoyed sports and was an avid Packer fan. He especially enjoyed fishing, golfing and in his later years, time spent in the garden. Wes also enjoyed watching the birds splash in the birdbath in his back yard. He had a great sense of humor and everyone that met him, loved him.
In addition to cousins, he is survived by longtime family friends, Lynn and Don Lensmire; his buddies Archie and Nancy, Artie and Daisy, Jim and Julie.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his father, Jule Counard; his mother, Viola (Norm) Van Roy; and Ethel’s parents, Walter and Mabel Puyleart who he farmed with for many years.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5930 Humboldt Road, Sugarbush. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church at 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. Carlo Villaluz officiating. Military Honors will conclude the services.
