William E. “Willie” Schmidt, Sr.
William E. “Willie” Schmidt, Sr., 69, died Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at his home. He was born February 10, 1953, in Green Bay to Burnetta (Dyce) Klarkowski, and the late Walter Schmidt.
Willie was a graduate of Preble High School, Class of 1971. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Family was very important to him. He often bragged about his son and grandchildren to everyone he knew. Willie loved traveling and traveled all over the country with his grandchildren and his special friend Sandy. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, camping, working on cars, and especially riding his Harley-Davidson. Willie will be remembered as a unique and protective man who always meant well. He could make friends anywhere he went, as a testament to his character.
Willie is survived by his son, Bill (Tricia) Schmidt; his grandchildren, Brandon Nier and Bryana Schmidt; his mother and step-father, Burnetta “Ginger” and David Klarkowski; a sister, Vicki Schmidt; his special friend, Sandy Bauer; his nieces, nephews, Chad, Candice, George, Will, and Diane, and their children; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Schmidt, and a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and MJ Kessel.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, on Monday for a time of gathering from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. On-line condolences may be given at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of flowers other expressions of sympathy would be appreciated.
