Richard “Dick” Moe

Richard “Dick” Moe, 86, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at St. Paul Center of Rehabilitation in Kaukauna.  He was born April 5, 1933, in Milwaukee to the late Roy and Ruth (Glas) Moe.  In 1961, Dick married Mary Gallagher and was devoted to her for their fifty years of marriage before she preceded him in death on August 6, 2008.

Dick served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserves and worked for GE Medical Systems where during his forty-year career he travelled the world as a Computer Systems Consultant.  Following retirement, when not sitting in the stands watching his grandchildren, Dick continued his love of traveling, cooking and giving through his many volunteering pursuits.  Recipients of his time included the Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Public Museum, Harley Davidson, and Meals on Wheels.  In recent years he enjoyed running the carousel at the NEW Zoo and his time as a docent and Bruce the Spruce at the Neville Public Museum.  Dick was a lifetime member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and an associate member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Green Bay.

Dick is survived by his children, Monica (Kathy Mesa) and Kurt (Amy).  Grandchildren, Ryan (special friend, Jessica Peterson), Justin (special friend, Emily Budnik) and Maggie Mesamoe.  Brother, John (Char) and brother-in-law, James (Jan) Gallagher.  Dick is further survived by his best friend and travel companion of the past nine years, Jean Makreff and her daughters, Jane (Chris) Dahlke and Sally (Mirk) Buzdum.  Dick lovingly played the role of honorary grandfather to Corey Torres and Jean’s grandchildren, Jay and Kirk Dahlke. 

Family and friends may call at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2911 Libal Street, Green Bay, on Thursday, from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m.  The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Lori Swenson officiating.  Family and friends may also call at Wisconsin Memorial Park’s Chapel of the Flowers, 13235 W. Capital Drive, Brookfield, on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 12:15 p.m.  Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family.  On-line condolences may be given to the Moe family by going to www.prokowall.com

A memorial has been established in Dick’s name to benefit the NEW Zoo, Neville Public Museum and St. Paul’s Elder Services.
