Sylvester J. “Sy” Barrett, Jr., 75, of Bellevue, formerly of Pilsen, died Monday, June 7, 2021. He was born August 22, 1945, in Green Bay to the late Sylvester B. Barrett, Sr. and Regina (Kocken).

Sy was a graduate of Luxemburg High School, Class of 1963. He was proud of all the work he did helping neighbors as a young man. On September 18, 1965, Sy married Mary A. Mencheski in Pine Grove. Sy served in the U.S. Army Reserves, served as Deputy Sheriff of Kewaunee County, and worked at Proctor and Gamble for 30 years until his retirement. Following retirement, he and Mary owned and operated Just for You Florist in Bellevue. There Sy loved delivering flowers and the joy it brought to others. While they owned the flower shop, they made many friends and had a great relationship with the Sollena Family of Luigi’s Pizza. Sy had a very close relationship with the Simonet Family who owned and operated Simonet’s in Green Bay. Everyone there treated Sy as one of their own family members. Cooking was one of his hobbies. Sy loved to learn and perfect recipes and spending time with his grandchildren cooking and baking.

Sy is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Thomas (Lisa) Barrett, Tammy (Joe) Vander Loop, Tony Barrett; his grandchildren, Aubrey (John) Hannah, Alexis Barrett, A.J. Barrett, Ariana Barrett, Nathan Vander Loop, Cassandra Vander Loop, Madison Rasku, Mason Rasku; his great-grandchild, Annie-May Hannah; his sisters, Betty Jean (Roger) Cauwenbergh, Jean Kilbride; a son-in-law Bruce (Myra) Rasku; a brother-in-law, Alvin Cherney; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Terrilynn Rasku; his parents; two sisters, Joan Cherney, Mary Ann (Bill) Augustine; a brother-in-law, Jim Kilbride.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, on Thursday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. No services will be held. On-line condolences may be given at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of flowers other expressions of sympathy would be appreciated.
