Carol Basten

Carol A. Basten, 77, New Franken resident, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at a local hospital. She was born April 27, 1944, in the Town of Eaton to the late Andrew and Marian (Tomski) Wypiszynski. Carol attended Luxemburg High School graduating in 1962. She married Harlan Basten on November 7, 1970, at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.

 Carol was employed at Diana Manufacturing and retired from Mary Morgan in 1999. She enjoyed attending the races at Luxemburg Speedway and was an outspoken Packer fan. Carol had a green thumb, and many days could be found tending to flowers in the garden and keeping the yard in tip top shape. She knew her way around a golf course and was a longtime collector of Hallmark Christmas ornaments. Carol had a very strong faith and practiced it daily. She and Harlan were members of St. Kilian Parish in New Franken since they were married. She was active in many events at the church and especially enjoyed singing in the choir.  

 She is survived by her husband, Harlan and their son, Scott Basten and Anne Allen, Casco; three sisters: Jeannie (Louis) Griese, Suamico; Rosemary Gezella, Green Bay and Barbara (William) Ullman, Oscoda, MI; her brother Jerry Wypiszynski, Green Bay; four sisters-in-law: June (Roger) Gilsoul; Sandy Tursky; Carole Basten and Nancy Basten, all Green Bay; nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by one sister, Angeline Wypiszynski; five brothers-in-law: Alvin Gezella; Gale Basten; Barry Basten; Ronald Basten and Jim Tursky.

 Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, September 12. A parish wake service at 7:00 pm, led by Pastoral Minister Cheryl Maricque will conclude the evening. Visitation will continue on Monday at St. Kilian Catholic Church, 2508 St. Kilian Rd, New Franken, from 9:30 -10:45 am. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Monday at the church with Fr. Carlo Villaluz officiating.
