Adeline Katherine Augusta (Malzahn) Grieser passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, in Green Bay, Wisconsin at the age of 98.

Adeline was born on December 5, 1925, to Henry C. Malzahn and Anna Malzahn (Manke) at the German American Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Jones Commercial High School in Chicago where she learned her amazing secretarial and organizational skills, which she put to use in many jobs over the years. One of her first jobs was at the Chicago Daily Times during World War II, where she remembered the day President Franklin Roosevelt died and when the war ended. Exciting times at a newspaper.

Adeline met Paul Grieser in 1944, shortly before he shipped out to fight in the Battle of the Bulge. They were married on June 2, 1947. After raising two daughters, Jeanne and Catherine, she and Paul moved to Eagan, MN in 1973 (once again following a new job opportunity). Then in 1991, they moved to Green Bay, WI to be near their only grandchild, Nathan.

Adeline was always an upbeat, outgoing, generous person. She volunteered at the Eagan Public Library, the Brown County Public Library, Aurora BayCare Hospital and at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, where she also worked as the church secretary. Adeline was a docent at the Minnesota Zoo. She was a tutor through Literacy Minnesota. Adeline made scrapbooks for Alzheimer’s Patients. She loved to write and there are notebooks full of her poetry and short stories. Adeline even tried her hand at a novel. She wrote letters to servicemen and to people incarcerated. She loved to read. Adeline always needed to be engaged and working on something. Idleness was not in her nature.

She was an avid animal lover and had many cats and dogs throughout her life.

She was dearly loved and will be missed by her daughters, Jeanne (Curt)  Heuer and Catherine (Eugene) Meyer; her grandson, Nathan Heuer; nephew, Mark Malzahn and her niece, Alyce Sue Malzahn.

In addition to her parents Adeline was proceeded in death by her husband, Paul Carlton Grieser and her brother, Henry W. Malzahn.

A Memorial Service for Adeline will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 120 S. Henry St, on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Hatch officiating.  A memorial will be established in Adelines’ name.
