Alfred Peter Zeller Jr. On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, Alfred (Al) Peter Zeller Jr. was granted his final wish, passing away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born in Green Bay, WI, on September 12, 1928, to the late Alfred Sr. and Clara (Blahnik) Zeller, he grew up and remained in Green Bay for his entire life. Al was a devoted Catholic and longtime member of Resurrection Parish. He enjoyed skiing, sailing, fishing, upland hunting, tennis, and golf. He was an owner of Al Zeller & Sons Green Bay Marine Mart. Al’s pride and joy was providing high quality sporting equipment to his customers. He married Alice Wendel on May 30, 1948. Al and Alice met at a neighborhood bus stop. They enjoyed 73 years together, raising a family of six. Al and Alice built a vacation home in Door County where lasting memories remain with family and friends. Alice preceded him in death on July 21, 2022.

Left to cherish his memory: children, Colleen (Mark) Boland; Thomas (Mary) Zeller; Claudia (Joe Brown) Elsner and Paul (Mary) Zeller; son-in-law, Dean Freeberg; grandchildren: Timothy (Michelle) Boland, Emily (Lakshmi) Boland, Erin Freeberg, Erik (Kacie) Freeberg, Lauren (Daniel) Matzkin, Jennifer (Joseph) Miller, Connor (fiancé, Brianna) Elsner, Anna Elsner, Andrew Zeller, Michael (Alyssa) Zeller, and Katie Zeller; great-grandchildren: Parker, Hudson, Jace, Ellis, Wyatt, Madeleine, Abby, James, Mackenzie, and Charlotte; sister, Joanne Roth.

Al is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice; children, Charmaine Freeberg and Mark Zeller; daughter-in-law, Maribeth Zeller and son-in-law, Doug Elsner; brother, Donald and sister-in-law Barbara Zeller, and brother-in-law Joseph Roth.

The family will receive guests on Friday, January 19, 2024, for a visitation from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, WI, 54301, where Al and Alice were founding parish members. Parish wake service 6:00 pm Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church from 9:00 -10:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Saturday with Rev. Tom Reynebeau and Msgr. James Feely concelebrating. According to Al’s wishes, in lieu of floral expressions, memorial funds will be established by the family to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and St. John’s Homeless Shelter.
