Alice L. Schmidt, 95, of Green Bay passed away peacefully, Sunday January 14, 2024. She was born July 17, 1928, in Milwaukee WI to the late William and Ada (Van Sickle) Key.

Alice graduated from North Division High School, class of 1946.  Soon after graduation, on August 16, 1946, she married Melvin A. Schmidt. She went on to have five children: Cheryl (Jim) Bousley, Nancy Kerr, Kevin Schmidt, Melvin H. (Lisa) Schmidt, and Carolyn (Steven) Pluger.  She worked alongside her husband in a supporting role in whatever endeavor they were involved in throughout their working careers.

When they retired to Dunbar WI in 1986, she became the Dunbar town treasurer and held that position for many years. Along with being the town treasurer, she was involved in the Lioness Club, Homemakers Club, and helped out at the town library, as she was an avid reader.  She took up quilting in the 70’s and enjoyed the quiet time hand piecing and quilting.  After her retirement she also became a quilting teacher at the local technical college and taught many how to quilt, including two of her daughters.  She entered many quilts into local quilt shows and also got a quilt block published in a national quilting magazine. She enjoyed time with her family, including her six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A Schmidt; son, Kevin Schmidt; brother, Robert Key; sister, Marie (Key) Livingston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Grace Schmidt.
