Carol Ackerman

Carol Ann (Hall) Ackerman, 72, peacefully reunited with her husband, Bill, on February 6, 2024, the anniversary of his passing. True love will always find its way; true love never dies.

Carol was the eldest of three children born to the late William and Elaine (Zoschke) Hall on February 26, 1951. Carol graduated in 1969 from Mt. Olive High School, Mt. Olive, IL. After graduation she attend nursing school at Alton Memorial Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse in 1972. It was there she meet her sweetheart, Bill, they married on June 19, 1971, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive, IL. They enjoyed 49 inseparable years together.

Carol spent the majority of her nursing career as a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She retired in 2016 and moved to Green Bay, WI to be closer to their daughter, Jane.

Carol had a deep appreciation for family, her canine companions, the outdoors, gardening, cooking, and baking. She enjoyed visiting the botanical gardens, traveling, reading, hosting family gatherings, and riding tandem as the Rear Admiral with Bill as the Captain, all over the United States.

In her hey day, Carol was an active member of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) at the Litchfield Sportsman’s Club. Carol chose the shooting name of “Sunny Day” which was a true reflection of her personality and charisma. Carol always had a smile on her face that was sure to put one on yours. She and Bill (a.k.a. Ross Haney) enjoyed shooting with their friends at hundreds of club matches over the years competing in Cowboy Single Action Shooting while preserving the history of the Old West.

Carol will be deeply missed and is survived by; her daughter, Jane (Andrea) Ackerman; sister, Nancy (Don) Thomas; brother, Howard (Laurie) Hall; sister-in law, Nancy (Bud) Klaustermeier; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and their two sweet border collies, Maggie and Rosie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Ackerman and parents, William and Elaine Hall.

Visitation and service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 112 N Border St, Troy, IL 62294with Rev. Albert Collver officiating.

Carol’s family expresses their deepest gratitude and sincerest thanks for the phenomenal and compassionate care she received from St. Croix Hospice, the exceptional staff at The Courtyard at Bellevue, and all of the family and friends that helped out in many ways throughout Carol’s journey.
