Earl Isadore VanDen Heuvel passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital, less than a month shy of his 84th birthday. The son of the late Isadore and Enid (Haltaufterheide) VanDen Heuvel, Earl was born April 17, 1940, in Green Bay. As a young boy, Earl attended St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Grade School, and later Central Catholic and Premontre High School from which he graduated in 1958.

Several years after graduation Earl would enlist in the United States Air Force, and during this time would marry the love of his life, Kathleen Ploederl on July 22, 1964, at St. Bernard Catholic Church. After being relocated from Omaha to Lakenheath, U.K., Earl and Katie welcomed a son to the family, Earl, in 1966 and moved back to Green Bay upon his honorable discharge. There they would welcome two additional children, Robert in 1967, and Keith in 1969. Sadly, a fourth son, Joseph, would pass into God’s realm shortly after birth.

Once back in Green Bay Earl would finish his bachelor’s degree by working full time at Proctor and Gamble and going to school part time at UWGB, where he graduated in 1970. He would eventually work for Wisconsin Protective Coating where he spent his working years until retiring in 2006. Earl and Katie would spend their retirement years enjoying the company of their children and grandchildren, friends and other relatives.

Earl always loved to bowl and bowled in leagues regularly until the very end. He also loved fishing and spent many hours on the lakes near Minocqua “trying” to land a trophy fish. Earl devoted many hours to helping those in need as a regular volunteer at Saint Vincent De Paul, through ministries connected with St. Philip, and he worked for years collecting and distributing donations for the Love Life charity. He was also a very active member in his parish, St. Philip the Apostle, as a member of the athletic club for many years and even volunteering to altar serve whenever help was needed. Faith was a very important part of Earl’s life and he never missed Sunday Mass and was usually at church several days a week. Earl will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of family and friends and his willingness to help those in need.

Earl is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Patti, and their children Francis and Katherine; Robert and Lesly, and their children Michael and Michaella; Keith and Kristin, and their children Lauren, Natalie, and Christine; his sister Cheryl (Tom) Laninga; many nieces nephews and cousins.
