Frances E. “Fran” Kubale, 90, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, surrounded by the tender loving care of her family.  She was born in the Town of Kossuth on September 2, 1933, the daughter of Nicholas “Nick” and Mathilda “Tilly” (Nachtwey) Birringer.  She graduated from Mishicot High School.  On June 24, 1961, Fran married Robert “Bob” Kubale at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Francis Creek and the two shared 48 wonderful years together.  Bob passed away November 1, 2009.

Faith and service marked Fran’s entire life. Fran was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish and active there in the Altar Rosary Society and in their Bible study.  She also taught CCD and served as a mentor for an RCIA candidate. Fran volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and at St. John’s Homeless Shelter, cooking and serving meals. She drove her fellow “church ladies” to appointments and took them shopping after Bob’s death.  She will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman who will be greatly missed.

Fran worked for the Ben Fronk Insurance Agency and American Mutual Insurance Company prior to her marriage.  She enjoyed her work as a sales associate for H.C. Pranges and Younkers.  After her retirement, Frances volunteered as a reading buddy.  She enjoyed reading, bowling, golfing and playing cards, and her most cherished times were those spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jesse Romain, Woodbury, MN; a son-in-law, Jim Ponto (husband of her deceased daughter Theresa); four grandchildren, Daniel Ponto, Joseph Romain, Janessa Romain and Christopher Romain; a sister-in-law, Joanne Birringer and a step-sister-in-law, Sharon Schuh; a brother-in-law, Bernard (Karen) Kubale; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Bob and her daughter Theresa, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Margaret (Joseph) O’Leske, Grace Nook, and Mary (Jack) Schuh; a brother, Milton Birringer; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Josephine Kubale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, corner of Irwin and Cass St., Green Bay, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, March 11th.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11th at the church.  Burial will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery, Francis Creek.  To express online condolences visit www.prokowall.com.  A Memorial Fund has been established to benefit St. John’s Ministries.

The family would like to thank everyone at Unity Hospice and the staff at the Jack & Ingrid Meng Unity Residence for their compassionate care.

Well done my good and faithful servant!  Matthew 25: 23
