Fred Berg, 72, passed away on March 18, 2024, from complications of leukemia.  He was born September 24, 1951, the son of Florence (Nitka) Berg.  Fred graduated from East High School with the Class of 1969 and organized the Red Devil reunion for many years.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman (HM2) from June of 1969 to March of 1973.  He remained friends with his Navy brethren from Hunter Point in San Francisco and enjoyed staying in contact.

On July 5, 1967, Fred returned home from Bay Beach totally smitten with Diane Andrews and they immediately became high school sweethearts.  The two wed on August 21, 1971, and remained totally in love through their 52 years of marriage.  Fred and Diane like traveling together, going out to eat and cuddling while watching a good movie.

Fred worked at Procter & Gamble from 1973 to 1999.  After retiring from the mill, he worked for NPS from 2005 to 2015.  Fred loved taking photographs and took pictures for many weddings of family and friends.  He had a brilliant mind, completing his puzzles in ink, figuring out anything that was broken, and keeping up on current events.  He made a difference in the lives of young men as a Big Brother, staying in contact with his Littles until his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; his sisters, Jean Berg, Barb (Roger) Schneider and Lynn (Jerry) Bomski; a sister-in-law, Linda Vande Hey; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Mary) Andrews and Allen (Marcia) Andrews; his best friend, Bruce Diezel; his aunt and godmother, Alice Beauchaine; Tom Baxter who is like a son to both Fred and Diane; Diego Borowitz; his puppy, Jazmine; many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Berg; a brother, Patrick Berg; brothers-in-law, Doug Blackmon and Jim Vande Hey; and his first Little Brother, Todd Leibergen.
