Galen R. Winnekens, 74, died of natural causes on Monday, March 21, 2022, at his home. He was born May 14, 1947, in Green Bay to Alvin and Clara (Pieschek) Winnekens.

Galen was a graduate of Denmark High School, Class of 1965. On May 29, 1966, Galen enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay during the Vietnam War. While there he served in construction units building air bases. After his time in the service, he attended Badger Green Bay Business School and received a degree in accounting. For many years he owned and operated his own accounting firm making many friends with local businesses. Galen was an avid collector who also enjoyed reading westerns, playing golf and baseball, going camping, playing cards, and sponsored a volleyball team- “Gaylord’s Guzzlers”.

Galen is survived by his siblings, Barbara Young, James (JoAnn) Winnekens, Mark Winnekens, Anne (Jeff) Baldwin, and Karen (Duke) Truttmann, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including his secretary and personal assistant Debbie Richardson for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Russ Young, aunts, uncles, and several cousins.
