Jerome R. “Jerry” Gerczak, 86, Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, with his family by his side.  He was born on August 2, 1935, in Green Bay to the late Edward and Marie (Velicer) Gerczak. As a child, Jerry attended St. Mary of the Angels Grade School and went on to attend and graduate from Central Catholic High School where he excelled in basketball and football.  Sports would continue to be a cornerstone of his life.  After high school, he enlisted in the Army before meeting the love of his life Dorothy Treml.  Jerry and Dorothy married on October 17, 1959, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glenmore.

Jerry began his work life at an early age by working at his brothers’ liquor stores where he would have the unique opportunity to serve and get to know the great Vince Lombardi by providing catering services for his private parties.  Jerry would later be employed and work for 38 years for the Consolidated Cigar Corporation as a District Sales Representative.  Through the years, he made friends with everyone he met.  Many of Jerry’s closest friendships were established through his time serving the community.  That would include the school board and Athletic Director for Holy Cross Catholic Grade School, as a founding member and President of the Bayshore Athletic Club, and as Town Supervisor for the Town of Scott.  When he wasn’t serving others, Jerry enjoyed travelling.  Jerry and Dorothy’s travels would take them both around the world and the United States.

Jerry will be missed by his wife Dorothy; children, Mary Jo (Robert) Jones, Golden, CO; Tom (Ginny) Gerczak, Elm Gove, WI; Paul (Donna) Gerczak, Rockford, IL; Mark (Jean) Gerczak, Comstock Park, MI; Richard Gerczak, St. Paul, MN; and Steven (Irena) Gerczak, Prague, Czech Republic; 14 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jeanine Gerczak and Mary Ann Treml; and many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by siblings, Lawrence (Betty) Gerczak, Norman (Vivan) Gerczak, Alvin (Delores) Gerczak, Don (Jane) (Marilyn) Gerczak and Robert Gerczak; parents-in-law, Robert W. and Mayme Treml; and a brother-in-law, Robert C. (Joyce) Treml.

Visitation will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Rd., from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021.  The Rt. Rev. Gary Neville O. Praem will officiate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  which will also be livestreamed on the Proko-Wall Funeral Home facebook page.  Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.  In light of COVID-19, the CDC recommends that everyone wear a mask in indoor public gathering spaces.
