Joseph “Joe” Ripp

Joseph “Joe” E. Ripp, 55, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020 at his home with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with cancer.  He was born on February 1, 1965 in Green Bay to the late Edward and Betty (Peot) Ripp.  On November 3, 1990, he married Michele VanDenPlas at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.  Joe worked at Green Bay Packaging for 20 years before his retirement.  He was an active member of the New Franken Volunteer Fire Department for 33 years.  Joe enjoyed tinkering with engines and attending auctions.  He liked being in the outdoors and adventuring with his family.  Joe loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was truly a selfless person, always helping others and putting other peoples needs before his own.

He is survived by his loving wife, Michele; children, Jason (Whitney) Ripp, Zachary (Danielle) Ripp, Ariel Ripp and Bradley (Heather) Ripp; grandchildren, Emytt, Remington, Ellisyn, Citori, Edward and Sydney; siblings, Mike (Bonnie) Ripp, Kathy (Tom) Glinski, Mary Ripp, Eileen Johnson, Wendy (Don) Beilfuss, Pat (Grace) Ripp and Jean (Ralph) Haroldson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Denise (Joe) Wypiszenski and Tina (Doug) Noel; mother-in-law, Darlene VanDenPlas; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Andrew Haroldson; father-in-law, Gary VanDenPlas; and brother-in-law, Duane Johnson.         

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Bill Burkel officiating. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral cortege leaves for church at 10:30 a.m.  Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd. with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating.  Burial will take place at SS. The family would like to thank the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, especially Dr. Nawaz and all of the nurses, Kristen Moen at Aurora Palliative Care and Aurora Hospice, especially Leah and Jessica, for all of the care and compassion given.
