Leona June Blinn, 90, passed away after a brief illness on March 13, 2021, in Fort Collins, Colorado. June was born June 15, 1930, in Scioto County, Ohio to the late John and Burnie (Oliver) Penn. She graduated from Miami University (Ohio) in 1951, and was working as a schoolteacher when she met Robert A. Blinn, whom she married in 1953. June worked as an elementary music consultant in Lima, Ohio; after moving to Green Bay she taught English at West High School from 1965 to 1982. She served as president of the Brown County Civic Music Association from 1984 to 1986 and enjoyed a second career as a piano teacher from 1990 to 2014. As adult converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, June and Bob served separately and together in many callings, both in the local church and in the Chicago LDS Temple. June devoted herself to hard work and selfless service; her love of literature, music and beauty brightened many lives.
June is survived by her children, James R. (Lisa) Blinn of O’Fallon, MO, Jeffrey C. (Carolyn) Blinn of Fort Collins, CO, and Joan E. Blinn of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Michael Blinn, Joan (Matt) Lynn, Kevin (Celeste) Blinn, Rebecca Blinn, Emily (Russell) Brown, Daniel (Heather) Blinn, Robert (Laura) Blinn, Matthew Blinn, Catherine Blinn, Laura Blinn and Molly Blinn; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel List of Vermont; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bob; a brother, Gerald L. Penn, sisters, Louise Heineman and Barbara Gessendorf, and twin great-granddaughters Cynthia and Gabriella Brown.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Sunday, March 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday March 22, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 651 Pinehurst Ave., from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church.
