Kenneth Peot

Kenneth L. Peot, 83, Green Bay resident, died peacefully at his home, Tuesday morning, February 27, 2024. He was born September 26, 1940, in Green Bay to the late Clarence and Mildred (Secor) Peot. Ken graduated from St. Patrick’s grade school and was a 1959 graduate of Premontre High School where he played football for four years.

In 1959 Ken entered the US Navy, serving from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963. While in service Ken served as a Quarter Master 2nd Class. He was Flag Staff Commander of the 2nd Fleet and 6th Fleet serving aboard the USS Little Rock and USS Newport News. Ken married the former Ruth Ann Splitgerber on August 10, 1968, at Boys Town of the Desert, St. Boniface Chapel in Banning, California.

Ken began a career in finance and banking with Laurentide Finance in Inglewood, CA from 1963 until 1969. He and Ruth moved to Green Bay in 1969 where Ken began a career with Kellogg Bank/Associated Bank for 25 years. He finished his banking career with Union State Bank four years later.

During retirement Ken continued be involved in his community and his parish, St. Philip the Apostle. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 617 and the Brown County Retired Men’s Club. He was a regular volunteer at Bellin Hospital as well as St. Vincent DePaul for 15 years. Ken was very active at St. Philip’s taking on the duty of Altar Server, serving on several finance committees and President of the parish council. Ken always said his favorite job was watching his granddaughter Loren grow up and become a young woman.

Ken is survived by his wife, Ruth and their two children, Paul Peot (Donna Otto); granddaughter, Loren Lee Mileski and Kevin (Gwen) Peot; all Green Bay; brother, John (Larraine) Peot, LaVerne, CA; brother-in-law, Myron Karcz, Pulaski; sisters-in-law: Nancy Lindenberg, Bellevue; Mary (Jamie) Reinke, Denmark and Donna Splitgerber, Pittsfield.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Peot; in-laws, George and Irene (Johnson) Splitgerber; sister-in-law, Carol Karcz; brothers-in-law, Fred Lindenberg and Kenneth Splitgerber.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Monday, March 4, from 4:00-7:00 pm. A parish wake service will conclude the evening at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., from 9:30-10:45 am. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Tuesday at the church with Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to Ken’s family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in his name.
