Lucille B. “Lu” Caldwell, 92, Eagle River, reunited with her husband, David, in Heaven on Wednesday, March 11, 2020.  She was born in Decatur, IL, on June 15, 1927, to the late Peter and Alice (Nalty) Kneipper.  Her family moved to Elgin, Il, where she graduated from St. Edwards Catholic High School and met and married her husband, David, where they lived for several years.

Dave and Lu moved to Wisconsin where they raised their six children.  Lu loved kids and spent many years teaching in various nursery schools and the Head Start program.

She was an accomplished seamstress who will be missed by her customers and the many friends she made over the years attending craft shows with her daughter Julie.

Lu had a keen eye for a bargain.  Spending her 70th birthday going to rummage sales in a limo was one of her favorite memories.

Our mom always put her family first in her actions, her beliefs, and the endless love she gave.

Lucille will be missed by her children, Cynthia (John) Zemlicka, Vickie Bettinger, Patrick (Mary) Caldwell, Julie (Steve) Lemma and Amy (Jim) Hobbins; grandchildren, Jack (Katie) Zemlicka, Amanda (Joe) Grundle, Matthew (Alicia), Jacob and Sam Caldwell, Matthew (Madeleine), Brett (Meghan) and Elena Hobbins, Chad (Sarah) and Michael (Lisa) Vieth, and John Paul (Brandee) Bettinger and Katie (Greg) Graham; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Peter J. Kneipper; son-in-law, Gary Vieth; and many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, David F. Caldwell, daughter, Sandra Vieth and a son-in-law, John D. Bettinger.

Due to current COVID19 and CDC recommendations the services on Thursday and Friday have been postponed.  Arrangements will be announced at a later date.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.

Lu’s family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their care and support during this difficult time.
