Mary L. Nagel peacefully passed away on Wednesday February 7, 2024, at Eden Vista Assisted Living. Mary was born on August 31, 1923, to Reinhard and Amanda (Manke) Ohrmundt and celebrated her 100th birthday this past August.
Mary was a graduate of East High School and worked at Kraft Foods before she married. On April 20,1946, Mary and Lloyd A. Nagel were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church and they shared 52 years of marriage together until Lloyd’s passing on August 6, 1998.
Prior to residing at Eden Vista, Mary was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church serving on Altar Guild and her favorite, Mission sewing. She also was an avid knitter, making countless baby caps for Bellin Hospital’s nursery.  Mary loved gardening and had beautiful flower gardens.  Mary and Lloyd had a mobile home in Woodruff, Wisconsin where she loved to fish and birdwatch. They also enjoyed traveling on bus tours throughout the United States. While celebrating the 45th Anniversary of the end of World War II, Mary and Lloyd traveled with Lloyd’s full regiment to all of the towns he fought through in Italy during the war. That was the trip of a lifetime for both of them.
Mary made many close and faithful friends after moving to Eden Vista Assisted Living. She truly loved all the residents and the employees.  It was beautiful to see their love for her. Mary always had faith, love and joy for her family and friends. She had a positive attitude, even as life became more difficult for her.
Mary is survived by her daughters Linda (John) Wier and Kitty Nagel. Also surviving are sister-in-law Tina Nagel and a special niece Ruth Hill.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son James, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Nellie Nagel, sister and brother-in-law Sylvia “Sliv” and Russell “Bud” Nagel, brother and sister-in-law David and Marie Ohrmundt, sister-in-law Muriel Warbritton, brother-in-law Jackie Nagel, and sister-in-law Nancy Nagel.
