Mary C. Turek, 87, a lifelong Green Bay area resident, passed away in the comfort of her home and the care of her children on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She was born March 19, 1936, to James “Bud” and Marie (VanVeghel) Christensen.  On June 15, 1957, she wed Albert “Bert” Turek. She and Bert were longtime members of Oneida Golf and Riding.  The two had been married for 47 years when Bert preceded her in death in 2004.

Mary’s style was embroidered jeans, belts and blouses with “bling” and she wore them well.  Her passion for collecting antiques reflected her business-like sense.  She had a deep love for all animals and was truly a dog and horse whisperer.

Survivors include two daughters, one son and their families, Geni Turek Eaton and Ted Eaton, Neenah; Mike and Maggie Turek of Menasha, and their children, Murphy and Shea; Sarah Turek Wittig and Andy Wittig of Appleton, and their daughter, Emma; a son-in-law, John Bigley, Idaho; her brother and a sister-in-law, Jim and Colleen Christensen, Green Bay; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Turek Bigley; her parents, Bud and Marie Christensen; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Al and Marie Turek; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 14th, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Tom Reynebeau officiating. A reception will follow the mass. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family and online condolences may be sent to www.prokowall.com.

Mary’s family extends a thank you to everyone at Heartland Hospice.  Your expertise and compassion were a God send, allowing our Mom to complete her journey with dignity and comfort.  Special thanks to Cindy, Rebecca, Josh, Karen and Gloria for everything you have done for our family.
