Richard “Dick” J. Schott

Richard “Dick” Joseph Schott, 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Richard was born on February 26th, 1930, in the Town of Scott to the late Theodore and Florence (Laundrie), Schott. Richard attended public school in New Franken and Central Catholic High School graduating with the Class of 1948. From 1957-1959 he continued his education and received a degree in Machine Drafting. Richard farmed with his father on the family farm in New Franken. On June 23rd, 1951, he married Bernadine Horkman. From there he and Bernadine moved to his father’s farm in the town of Eaton. From 1954-1955 Richard was employed with Liebmann’s Meat Packing Plant.  In that year of 55’ Richard contracted Polio during the epidemic. He spent the next five years at the Curative Workshop for treatment. In January of 1957 he moved back to New Franken to the house he built and has lived there ever since. In 1958 Richard was appointed Treasurer for the Town of Scott Treasury and was treasurer for 17 years. He was employed at Tosca Ltd. from 1960 through 1992 retiring after 32 years of dedicated service.

Richard will be sadly missed by his son, David Schott; daughters, Sally (Dick) Noskowiak, Marilyn LaPlant, Mary (Jon) Zeutzius, Janice (Kim) Pedler, Darlene (Neil) Kane, and Nancy (Ron) Levknecht. Grandchildren, Shelly, Becky, Jeff, Missy, Scott, Tim, David, Michael, Emily, Tania, Elizabeth, Nicole, Brittany, John, Ashley, Adam and Austin. 30 great grandchildren; sisters; Joan (Richard) Bertrand, Rosalie Kinjerski, Rosalyn VandenPlas, Lorraine Loberger; sister-in-law Donna Schott and brother-in-law Robert Lardinois.

In addition to his parents, Richard was proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years, Bernadine; son-in-law Thomas Widi and Scott Charles, granddaughter Tracy Hook, great grandson Nathaniel LaPlant. Sisters: Genevieve (Harry) Pigeon, Ethel (Alvin) Linzmeier, Bernadette (Orville) VanLieshout, and Marion Lardinois. Brothers: Hillary (Delores) Schott, Robert Schott, Marcel (Eleanor) Schott, Cletus (Grace) Schott.  Brother-in-laws Albert VandenPlas, Edward Kinjerski and Leonard Loberger.

 

Visitation will be at St. Killian Catholic Church, 2508 St. Killian Rd. on Saturday, October 15th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Nonito Barra officiating.
