Robert “Bob” Skaleski

Robert “Bob” J. Skaleski, 85, Green Bay resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022.  He was born October 29, 1936, in Green Bay to the late Stanley and Florence (Olejniczak) Skaleski.  He was a graduate of Premontre High School.  Bob then attended St. Norbert College on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in business.  On July 25, 1959, he married Phyllis DeGroot at St Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay.  Bob worked at Mednikow’s Grocery for several years.  He then took a position with Lindsey Meats out of Milwaukee as a salesman for the northeast territory of Wisconsin.  In the late 70’s, he founded Skaleski Meats and then partnered with local butcher, Harry Melotte, to create Melotte-Skaleski Distributing, Inc.  Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, especially cribbage and poker.  He loved the game of football and watching the Packers play.  Bob loved to cook steaks on the grill for family and friends.  His other favorites included chicken dumpling soup, chop suey and chocolate chip cookies.  Bob and Phyl enjoyed their yearly spring vacation to Daytona Beach, Florida at their timeshare condo.  He also looked forward to spending time with his family and extended family at the cottage near Red River Park.  Bob and Phyllis are charter members of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Green Bay.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis “Phyl”; children, Paulette Cook, Chris (Cherryl LeBlanc) Skaleski, Mitchell (Val) Skaleski, Dean (Karen Wiener) Skaleski, Andrea Haslanger and Danielle (Rob) Casares; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Victor (Judy) Skaleski, Nestor (Maureen) Skaleski, Melvin (Jan) Skaleski and Sharon DeLaurelle; sisters-in-law, Jan Skaleski and Mary Skaleski; brother-in-law, Dave (Patricia) DeGroot; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lance Skaleski; granddaughter, April Kalous; brothers, Myron and Dennis “Butch” Skaleski; brother-in-law, Dennis “Denny” DeLaurelle.

Visitation will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, Green Bay, WI,  on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Memorial Mass 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev. Mark Vander Steeg officiating.  Entombment will take place at the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
