Robert J. “Bob” Nitka, 63, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 19, 2020, with his family by his side.  He was born July 21, 1957, in Green Bay to Shirley Mae (Van Schyndle) Nitka and to the late John Francis Nitka.

Bob was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1975.  After high school he immediately began working for the Green Bay Sewage District, where he worked for thirty-eight years until his retirement on July 1, 2014. In September of 1999, Bob married Pamela Swanson at Resurrection Catholic Church where he was an active member and volunteer. Bob loved his church and also enjoyed spending his time during retirement doing volunteer work, specifically with the EPH (Ecumenical Partnership for Housing).  Bob loved gardening, woodworking, and had a creative, visionary mind that loved to invent things to make life easier. He was everyone’s go-to “handy man”. He will be remembered as a patient person with an upbeat personality who loved to tell jokes. To Bob, there was never a situation so serious that it didn’t deserve a joke.

Bob is survived by his wife, Pam; his daughter, Lisa (Mark) Werner; his step-daughters, Lindsey Maino, Amber (Bryan) Schmechel; three grandchildren, Lettie, Delphine, and Iris; his brothers and sisters, Patricia (Michael) Hoffman, Thomas (JoAnn) Nitka, Janice (Tim) Mandich, and Daniel Nitka; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daniel (Karla) Swanson, Nancy (John) Ellis; mother-in-law, Rita Laitinen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Steven.
