Sadie Lee Ayres (born Sadie Lee Roberts), 79, passed away Monday Oct 19th, 2020. She was born in Brickeys, Arkansas Sept 3rd, 1941, to Andrew and Lula Roberts. She met and married an aspiring musician named Curtis Ayres who moved her away to a small town in Indiana where she became a full time mother and homemaker. While Curtis was on the road fulfilling his musical passion and providing for his family, Sadie was on the home front raising the kids and keeping the house in order. As the kids got older Curtis taught them all about his passion for music and created the family band called “Ayres” and he took Sadie and the kids on the road playing music. The band travels brought her to Green Bay in the early 90’s and she has remained there with her family ever since.

Sadie loved sewing and had quite the stash of material and McCalls patterns. Every free moment she had was spent at the fabric store getting everything she needed, and quite a few things she didn’t need. She had quite the style for “back in the day” with lots of bright colors and unique patterns. When she wasn’t making clothes for her kids or herself, she was making curtains, pillow cases, and anything she could think of to create by hand or with her sewing machine. Her latest passion of sewing lead her to create large hand made quilts that she would make from all her scrap material. Every so often she would donate a quilt or two to St Vincent DePaul. She also loved gardening, reading and antiquing which is why she loved her job at Goodwill. She thoroughly enjoyed all her grandchildren. She gave them many hugs and kisses and a unique and endearing nickname for each one of them. She had a strong faith and prayers that could warm your soul. She will be greatly missed by friends and family, but always remembered for her loving ways and unique style.

Sadie will be sadly missed by her four children, Kelvin (Shannon) Ayres, Curtis Ayres Jr, Donna (Jon) Henjum, Solomon (Jessica) Ayres; 11 grandchildren; Alisha, Brianna, Elijah, Isaiah, Lukas, Ian, Skyler, Gabriel, Adriel, Naomi. Sadie was looking forward to her 11th grandchild in December, 2 great grandchildren, Nahla, Nedarius; her siblings; Mary Smith (sister), Bessie (sister), Milton (brother), Maebell (sister).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Ayres; brothers; James, Clay and Clifton.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Annas House for their love and compassion for Sadie. We would also like to thank Proko-Wall for their care and loving sincerity for our mom and for our family.

The family held a private service on Oct 24th. 2020.
